Adopting from Hearts That Purr
Giving an orphaned cat a second chance at home
Choosing to adopt a cat—rather than buying from a breeder or pet store—is one of the most meaningful ways to save a life. While Hearts That Purr Feline Guardians primarily provides lifetime care for senior cats with chronic or terminal illness, we occasionally have adoptable cats looking for loving forever homes.
All cats available for adoption through our organization are:
-
ï‚· Spayed or neutered
-
ï‚· Vaccinated
-
ï‚· Tested for FeLV/FIV
-
ï‚· Microchipped

Many also come with:
-
ï‚· Ongoing veterinary care assistance
-
ï‚· Free enrollment in our Feline Guardian Program
Our Adoption Philosophy: Foster First, Adopt Second
Our process is a bit different—and intentionally so. Because we specialize in older cats and maintain a low-density, cage-free sanctuary, our focus is on finding the right home for each cat, not just any home.
In fact, some of our cats enter our care through the Feline Guardian Program, where previous owners have outlined specific placement preferences. These cats may require special considerations in finding their next home.

We believe adoption should be thoughtful—not impulsive. To help ensure the best fit, all
adoptions begin with a 30-day foster period. This gives both you and the cat time to adjust and ensure it’s a mutually happy match.
During this time, we’ll check in to see how things are going. If the foster experience is
successful, the adoption can move forward. At that point:
-
ï‚· A personalized adoption contract will be signed
-
ï‚· Declawing is strictly prohibited
-
ï‚· If circumstances change, the cat must be returned to us
-
ï‚· A small adoption fee may be requested, and this will be discussed up front
How to Get Started
Because every adoption begins with a foster period, please start by completing our Foster Application. Once we review it, we’ll schedule a personal interview and a home visit to ensure a good fit for you and the cat.
