Senior Cat Rescue and Sanctuary
Hearts That Purr Feline Guardians is a private, volunteer-run, feline-only rescue supported entirely by donations. We receive no government funding and focus on providing exceptional care for the cats already in our program. Because we prioritize quality over quantity, cats are accepted on a space-available basis and must meet our mission and intake criteria.
If you need assistance regarding a cat who is already enrolled in our Feline Guardian Program, please call us at 520-390-0879 or send a message through the link at the bottom of this page.
Our Mission
We provide loving sanctuary for senior cats made homeless due to their guardian's:

-
Terminal Illness
-
Permanent Incapacitation
-
Death

Some cats who enter our care may be adopted into new homes. Others remain in our care for life due to advanced age or special medical needs. For this reason, we do not operate like a traditional shelter. Instead, we use a network of foster homes and maintain a peaceful, residential-style sanctuary for long-term residents.

Capacity and Priorities
We are deeply committed to the cats already in our care and may only accept new cats when space and resources allow. Consideration for intake of new cats is based on the following priorities:
-
Older cats at risk of euthanasia in a public shelter
-
Older cats belonging to terminally ill or deceased individuals with no family support

Requests from private individuals are considered based on:
-
ï‚· Alignment with our mission
-
ï‚· Proof of legal authority to relinquish the cat
Important Notes About Intake
Due to our unique care environment, we may not be able to accept cats who are:

-
Feral or extremely unsocialized
-
Aggressive or highly fractious
-
Positive for contagious diseases

While we do not charge an intake fee, we kindly request a financial contribution from those relinquishing a cat, if they are able, to help support our work.
